3 Forts Challenge 2017

On the 30 April, the 2017 Three Forts Challenge Marathon was run over the South Downs.   Our Club helps to organise and run this race each year, an the proceeds go to the Ferring Country Centre.

Known as 'The Tough One' , due to its length of 27miles and 3500 feet of climb and descent, it nevertheless offers the runners many superb views (weather permitting) of the downs and the Channel.  They were not disappointed this year, with only the strong breeze to distract from the otherwise perfect running conditions.

The picture shows the leaders traversing Coombe Head, approximately 35 min from the start in Worthing, before a welcome downhill run to the Adur River crossing and refreshment at the Rotary-run aid station.
