2018 Three Forts Challenge
On the 6th May 2018, the Three Forts Challenge Charity Marathon was run over the South Downs.
Known as the 'Tough One' it involves 27miles and 3450 ft of climb and descent.
The runners enjoyed almost perfect weather conditions, with clear skies and the prospect of magnificent views of the Downs and the English Channel. The picture shows the lead runner, well ahead of the rest of the pack, traversing Coombe Head before dropping down into the Adur valley.
The race has been organised and run for several years , by Rotary clubs from the area, and the proceeds will go to the Ferring Centre for mentally and physically disabled adults and children, who receive therapy and in some cases learn trades.
